The Horror and Awesomeness of Tech Week!

Recently I have been partying, eating food, and TRYING to make friends. It was my sisters birthday party Saturday and it was alot of fun!! But Yesterday I started something awesome that I hope I can do without getting upset..
I started Tech week for Anne of Green Gables! I am working backstage with a friend! The hard part is making friends... because all of these people know each other really well, and I just arrived. I found it pretty easy with the younger kids because I am good with little kids, but the girls my age are always in a group and I feel so disconnected from everyone. I really need to work on my people skills. I'm the kind of person that could act on stage in front of millions of people and be ok. But if I have to confront somebody on my own, without a script, I get shaky and awkward. I'm a pretty awesome person once I've talked to someone for 5 minutes, I just need the chance to actually get to that 5 minute mark. Does anyone else have this problem? Any advice?!
Other than that the first day of Tech week was pretty cool! I hung around my friend and the little kids mostly. They did feed us doughnuts, so that was pretty awesome! Today Tech starts at 6 pm and ends at 9:30 so I am trying to work up some confidence today! Hope you guys had a great weekend! I have been working on a lot of posts, there all in draft form and not finished yet.
Adios Amigos!

  1. Haha, I was like this during my first show, too, but it wasn't hard for me to talk to the tech people (they were all college aged people and for some reason I can talk to them much better); it was hard for me to talk to the entire cast in general. I would be sitting listening to music while everyone else play "WHA!" But they do get to know you, eventually. It takes time, and it is awkward, but they will talk to you. ^.^

    xoxo Morning

  2. Aww, good luck! Just be yourself and be confident in who you are, not in other people's reaction to you.

  4. Yes for doughnuts! I know exactly how you feel. I'm not quite sure about the acting part, as I've never done any acting, but with the whole people skills thing....YUP. It's really awkward for the first few times, but I think once you get to warm up to people and if they're meant for you, it'll go great.
