Love yourself.

sleeping beauties gone too soon... by Kira Westland (CC BY 2.0)

It's true, we all have faults. Yeah, your nose may be "too big", or maybe you think your "fat". But in reality, we all TRULY are beautiful. I'm not saying this in the cliche way. Yes it IS the inside that counts, but I say that everyone has a beautiful body as well.
Besides what IS the definition of beautiful?
I for one couldn't tell you. Who am I to say you aren't beautiful?
The truth is EVERYONE has a different definition of beautiful.
There will always be someone who thinks you are beautiful.
You are a living, breathing, moving human being. You can think, talk, solve problems, and just that in itself is a beautiful miracle. So just remember how amazing you are. You are a beautiful human being.

What if....

Holding hands by Valerie Everett (CC BY-SA 2.0)

What if instead of putting people down, we brought people up.

What if instead of focusing on peoples faults, we focused on their strengths.

What if we grew together, instead of apart.

What if we accepted people for who they really are, instead of who we want them to be.

What if we looked at ourselves, as wonderfully as we look at those who we admire.

What if we all walked hand in hand, full of love, and friendship.

Wouldn't the world be such a lovely place. Although it may never happen, live as if it's true. As someone once said:

One act of kindness creates an endless ripple.

And what if that ripple, eventually led to you?

Does Music Really Effect your Writing?

Hey guys! So I have had the coolest idea for a post, inspired by the lovely blog Imogen Elvis you should TOTALLY go check her blog out!

Also, in acting class we played a game where my teacher would play a certain song and my group would have to create a pantomime skit based off of how the song makes us feel. which has allot to do with this experiment!

Anyways, THANK YOU Imogen Elvis for giving me this idea!

What is this Experiment About?
Does the style of music you listen to effect your writing? What did you end up writing about for each song?

Materials Needed!
Pen/pencil
Paper
Something to play music
Some assorted songs!
If you don't have very many songs you can use this playlist from Imogen Elvis's Post!

My Hypothesis!
I believe that the paragraphs I write will be based upon how the song made me feel!

Procedure
1. First we must choose some songs that have different beats, rhythms, and melody's. Preferably NOT with lyrics!!
I've decided to create a list of 3 I'm going to use! Some of these are not in this playlist! You can use these or make your own!
1. Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Part
2. Wedding Vows - Romeo and Juliet 2013 soundtrack
3. Pirates of the Caribbean - Soundtrack 03 The Black Pearl

Remember you just need to write a small paragraph, nothing fancy! I just wrote until I ran out of inspiration! I also what I typed up here is exactly what I wrote down, so I am sorry if they are not the best paragraphs, but you should get the idea!

Results!

1. Spiegel Im Spiegel

WHEN YOU READ THIS PLAY THE MUSIC IN THE BACKDROP.
LISTEN TO THE MUSIC WHILE YOU READ/WRITE!!

Here is what I wrote:

I sat in my room, longingly staring out the window. Rain rippled down the glass like teardrops. There were all the other kids in the neighborhood, splashing in the rain without a care in the world. Why couldn't I be like them? I heard my parents screaming and yelling in the other room. Why me? It's all my fault that they fight. I wish I was normal. I don't deserve them. They've given me everything and I've done nothing for them in return. I knew there was only one thing I could do. I grabbed my knapsack of keepsakes and climbed onto the sturdy, old willow, outside my window. My parents would be upset of course, but at least they wouldn't have something to fight about. That's why I'm here. I ran away, laugh at me if you want, but I'm not who everyone wants me to be, no one could ever love me. So why inflict pain upon those you love, when you can bury it inside of you, and save them the heartache.

2. Wedding Vows - Romeo and Juliet 2013 soundtrack

What I wrote:

I stepped into the meadow. The world around me was glistening in a way I'd never experienced before. The flowers began swaying to and fro as if they were welcoming me. A small creek led to a sandy little shore. I sat there and cooled my bare feet in the refreshing, clear water. Birds of all colors and sizes flew around me in circles. I had the strangest impulse to spin and jump and dance.I stood slowly and instinctively began twirling around. The gentle breeze blew around my dark curls, and my silky blue dress, spun around me like a blanket. I took in a deep breath and looked up at the bright blue sky, spotted with purple butterflies and colorful birds. The world around me smelt of lavender and I felt beautiful and free, like nothing could ever go wrong. This is where I was meant to be. This magical place is my home.

3.  Pirates of the Caribbean - Soundtrack 03 The Black Pearl

What I Wrote:
That's when I came upon them. The most gruesome creatures I ever layed my eyes on. They had green skin and a mouth full of rotting, black teeth.  I sneakily, unsheathed my scabbard and hid behind a large barrel of pickles. I began making my attack plan. There was a hostage, a young boy enclosed in a green, rusty, metal cage. If I were to save him he would be good help on my quest. Beginning the action, I leaped out from behind the barrel and attacked the monster patrolling the area. Stabbing him in the chest, the rotten creature, gave out the most gruesome cry. The cry awoke the other two "things" and they ran at me with full force. I being the amazing fighter I am, skillfully knocked them dead with a blow to their heads. After I confirmed the creature deaths, I raced to the young, caged boy, and released him with a bash from the hilt of my sword onto the lock. We escaped easily and made our way here. And that is the story of how I met Jim!

Conclusion!
I have to say that this did work! Each song gave me a different idea based on what it sounded like. It also gave me instant inspiration! People use this to give a certain feeling in movies especially, and it works very well!

Did you do this experiment?! Are you going to? Which paragraph is your favorite?! Comment Below!
Have an awesome day everyone!!

Cold Hands, Warm Hearts

Heart is in my hands by, Shimelle Laine (CC BY 2.0)

I was at  my nanny and nana's house yesterday for Valentines day. Throughout my whole life my nanny has always said how cold my hands are.. I'd go to her small little rocking chair in the corner, to greet her. I'd hold her hand and give it a nice squeeze. And she'd always reply with how cold my hands are.  It's something I expect every time we meet. But this week in particular, she said something different. I grabbed her hands for a warm hello and she replied as usual in her voice, sweet as honey, "my dear, your hands are cold." And I'd laugh a little as always. But then she recited a small poem. She told me "Cold Hands, Warm Heart," and stated with a little chuckle "you must be in love." This got me thinking..... I thought about who I might be in love with, but my mind was not in the right place. I couldn't think of a single boy I "loved." The truth is, I don't love any boys. So why does that poem feel so true? My cold hands must mean something.... and then it hit me. I am in love! I'm in love with my life, my surroundings. I have everything I need. I am so in love with my brother, sister, mother,  father. I'm overwhelmed with love, joy, happiness, and freedom. And so I replied to my, sweet, frail, great-grandmother, "That's because I'm in love with you." And I meant it with all my heart.

About Self-Confidence and How to Improve Yours.

How Confident Are you?

I created a quiz for this! Comment below what you get when you are done with it!

What exactly is Self-Confidence?

The proper definition is: a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgment

Self-confidence is when you are proud of your abilities and talents. For an example:

I am a very fast runner. I am extremely confident in my abilities and I would not be intimidated to compete with another person with my same abilities.
Or let's say you have been learning piano all of your life. And someone asks you to perform for them. If you are confident in your musical abilities you would gladly take the offer because you are proud of your skill.

But how can I build my Self-Confidence?

The truth is, you can just snap your fingers and make it happen. It takes time and hard work, but I promise it's worth it in the end.

Step 1. Preparing

Before you begin you need to get in the right mindset. You must commit yourself to these tips and you will become confident soon enough.

Think about all the great things you have achieved!

You need to begin by appreciating yourself and all the amazing things that make you, YOU! Whether you got an A on a test, or mastered an instrument there is something great within everyone! Here is a good exercise for this:
Write a list of your top 10 achievements in your life.
Hang it on your punch board or stick in the front of your binder. Put it somewhere that will remind you often of your great achievements!

You need to start thinking more positively!

Part of the reason people lack self-confidence is because they see everything in a negative way. Instead of focusing on the bad, think more on the good! Everyone is beautiful. I truly believe that with all my heart. I have never looked at someone and thought, man that person is ugly. I'm being completely honest here. Yes, some people may be a little more pleasing to the eye than others, but in reality everyone is beautiful, some just shine more than others. And you want to know WHY they shine? It's because they are the confident ones! Look at yourself in the mirror, smile, look into your eyes. You are breathing, living, thinking, imagining. You are a masterpiece. Humans are amazing, we think, eat, dream, and understand some of the most complex things. YOU are a masterpiece of God, or Earth whatever you believe. YOU are amazing.

What I want you to do!

I want you to appreciate yourself. Know your strengths and use them to your advantage. Be who you are, don't try to fit in if it's not you. Believe me, people look up to those who stand on there own, and become there own person. There are billions of people in this world. Don't try to fit in, you want to be different, unique, you. JUST BE YOU. That is how you become confident, self-confidence is when you are comfortable in your own shoes, so don't wear anyone elses shoes, because YOU are unique, YOU are special, and YOU are beautiful.
